Accidents Suck. Call Jimmy.

Aldine sits between the Hardy Toll Road and Bush Intercontinental, which means commuter traffic and airport freight on the same roads. It also sits on a jurisdiction line that decides what your deadline actually is.

Aldine straddles a line, and the line decides your deadline

Most of Aldine is unincorporated central Harris County. But not all of it — parts fall inside City of Houston limits. That is not trivia. It determines which government's notice rule applies to your crash.

If a public entity contributed — a government vehicle, an employee on duty, a dangerous road condition — then inside Houston limits you are looking at the City's requirement of notarized written notice within 90 days. In the unincorporated part, you are not: Harris County and the State have their own, different requirements.

Two crashes a mile apart on the same road can therefore have different deadlines. Nobody should be guessing at that, and the answer needs to come in the first week rather than the second month.

Policing splits the same way: the Harris County Sheriff's Office District II patrols the unincorporated areas, while Houston PD covers the portions inside city limits. Ask the responding officer which agency they are with, and get the report number before you leave the scene — requesting from the wrong one costs days you may not have.

Airport freight on commuter roads

Aldine sits beside George Bush Intercontinental, the second largest aviation facility in Texas, and along the Hardy Toll Road, FM 525 and the Union Pacific line. The result is a traffic mix that produces more serious crashes than the population would suggest: cargo and delivery trucks servicing the airport, moving at highway speed on roads that residents use to get to work.

When a commercial vehicle is involved, the case is governed by federal motor carrier rules on top of ordinary Texas negligence law. That opens evidence a car case never has — electronic logging records, the engine control module, the driver's qualification file, maintenance history — but all of it sits on short retention clocks. Duty records have a six-month floor; dashcam footage is often gone in days.

What to do in the first week

Get medical attention the same day even if you feel fine, because the gap between the crash and your first visit is the single most common thing used to discount a claim. Do not give the other driver's insurer a recorded statement. And if a truck was involved, get a preservation letter out before the evidence ages off.

In Spanish, with the lawyer

Aldine is roughly 87% Hispanic or Latino — one of the most heavily Spanish-speaking communities in Harris County. Jimmy handles these cases in Spanish himself, from the first call through resolution.

What to do

Your next steps

Before you leave

Photograph the scene and the street signs

The cross streets matter here, because the agency that works the crash changes block to block. Your photo settles it; you do not have to.

At the scene

Get the agency and report number

Sheriff District II or HPD. The wrong agency costs days.

Same day

See a doctor

The gap between crash and first visit is what gets used to discount your claim.

Truck logs and onboard data can be destroyed after six months. Getting the preservation letter out is our job, and it only works if it goes out early.

Questions

Common questions here

Does the Houston 90-day notice rule apply in Aldine?
It depends where exactly the crash happened. Most of Aldine is unincorporated Harris County, where it does not. But parts fall inside Houston city limits, where it does. That question needs a real answer in the first week.
Which agency has my crash report?
Harris County Sheriff District II for the unincorporated areas, Houston PD for the parts inside city limits. Ask the responding officer and write down the report number.
A delivery truck hit me near the airport. Is that different?
Yes. Commercial vehicles bring federal motor carrier rules into the case, which opens evidence a car case does not have — electronic logs, engine module data, the driver's file. Most of it is on short retention clocks.
Can we handle the case in Spanish?
Yes, with Jimmy himself — not through staff or an interpreter.
